Metropolitan is a stylish cocktail bar and restaurant located in the heart of Merchant City. I have visited this bar quite a few times as it focuses on authentic, well-made cocktails.
One of the features I like most about Metropolitan is their ‘outdoor’ area, by outdoors I mean the courtyard of Merchant square which is actually indoors! The courtyard has quite a different atmostphere from the actual bar so it makes a nice addition.
As mentioned earlier, cocktails are what Metropolitan are all about and it was infact the bar that first introduced me to the Victorian Mojito, that has become a firm favourite of mine. The bar has an extensive cocktail menu but as per any good cocktail bar they have no problem rustling you up something that is not listed.
Cocktails come in about £6 which I have found on par with other cocktail bars in Glasgow. When paying £6 a drink you really want to be sitting somewhere comfortable to enjoy it and this is the only problem I have with Metropolitan. Monday to Thursday you will have no problem finding a seat but come the weekend you will need to arrive early in order to find somewhere to sit.
I visited the bar on a Friday night and the DJ was playing out some funky house music so if you are looking for something a bit more relaxed then this might not be the place for you but during the week it is a bit more chilled out.
Overall it is a nicely furnished bar with an extensive drinks menu and bar staff that know their stuff.
