You’d be forgiven for thinking your having a nasty LSD fuelled flashback to your grannies 1978 ’cooncil-flat’, but the fact of the matter is that your in Flat 0/1 on Bath Street (162 Bath St), one of the coolest places to open in Glasgow in recent years in my humble opinion. Fitted out as a 1970/80s flat (including bed with knitted blankets) the decor is fun if not genuinely nostalgic if your an old codger like me (I actually still own some of the same stuff they use to comic effect). Gimmicks aside, I really liked the friendly atmosphere and laid back but helpful service from the ‘bright orange formica kitchenette inspired bar’.
Flat 0/1 is the cool and funky conjoined twin of Lucky 7 Canteen I reviewed and recommended a few weeks back, not a bad idea to combine the two for a great value nosh up and post dinner dancethon. However with me and my mate’s combined age teetering over 85, there really wasn’t much of a thon to our dance – more of a dance-et before we got puffed out and resorted to drinking lots of Newcastle Brown Ale – which is one of the few comforts in life at our age(s). Anyway enough of the mid-life (early) crisis…check this place out, you wont be disappointed, friendly, great variety of tunes and reputable DJs (check out there schedule for listings) and the best part – open till 3 most night and no entry charge! Not many of them in the town centre.
A word of warning however, don’t expect too much from the selection of drinks – as long as your not super fussy, I’m sure your find something to libate upon whist enjoying the terrifying contemplation of your own mortality.
