I was stumbling around the tinterweb one day and while I was browsing I fell upon this little find “Malt Salt”, a salt that claims to equal the end of soggy chips!

From the J&D the makers of the legendary Baconnaise “the ultimate bacon flavoured spread”, is the all natural, according to the packaging, malt salt a malt vinegar flavoured salt.

Normally I’m all for some soggy, vinegar & salt drenched chips but sometimes, especially with fries I’m not in the mood for the sogginess but demand crispy chips that are just as salty and vinegary and this is the magic salt to do just that.  Having felt the need to purchase and try (don’t ask why) I was surprisingly impressed.

It does exactly as it says on the “tin” it is like sprinkling your chips with something that doesn’t really feel natural, but it says it is, that gives you all the salt & vinegar of a chip shop chippy without the sogginess.  J&D appear to be genuises in creating concoctions that you would never have thought should be made and probably best known for making bacon flavoured items of every food item you can think of!

Tis definitely foodie fun for those of you who want some very salty & vinegary chips without the sogginess and I have to confess I’m still using it.
